Programmes Conducted

Ever since the formation of SHARP organisation, the society have been successfully implementing various Programmes in various aspects to generate awareness among the ignorant rural poor. All the progammes conducted so far have been carried out from local contributions and advances from Executive Committee Members.

01. Family Planning Campaign:
SHARP have well recognised the urgent need to restrict the family-size by adopting small family norms for controlling the alarming increase of the population.With this important aspect in view, SHARP have conducted awareness campaigns in target villages. Man and women have been motivated to undergo family planning operations and also adopt other methods of family planning like IUD, contraceptive pills and condoms.
02. Anti-Licqour Campaign:
SHARP have conducted general awareness campaigns against alcohol and arrack which is destroying the poor families both on economic front and health point of view. SHARP have participated in the mass rallies conducted by women's groups, demanding complete prohibition in the state.
03. Environmental Awareness Campaign:
Besides tree planting programmes, SHARP have conducted awareness campaigns for preservation and protection of Environment in the tatget villages. The local rural men, women, students, teachers and agricultural labourers have also been involved in the compains which were very successful and encouraging also.
04. Literacy Campaign:
SHARP have conducted awareness campaigns in the target villages involving school dropouts and agricultural labourers through non-formal education centres. SHARP have also made efforts of enrolling illiterate members into Government Literacy Programme of "AKSHARA DEEPTI"
05. Awareness Campaigns on Agricultural Farming:
SHARP have organised awareness campaigns with small and marginal farmers on improved and scientific methods of cultivation to achieve the maximum output.
06. Awareness Campaigns on Nutrition Programmes:
Under the Child Health Care Programme, SHARP have conducted training programmes on providing nutritious food for children with cost-effective methods. The mothers and old ladies are also provided with full information on nutritional values of daily available and cost-effective food stuffs. Nearly 50 women and 200 children were benefitted through each campaign.
07. Pulse Polio Campaign:
SHARP organisation have made efforts to procure as many children as possible in the target villages for immunisation programme of Puse Polio drops and fully extended co-operation with the Government in the Pulse Polio Programme in December, and January, every year
08. Free Distribution Of Books To Poor Students:
SHARP Organisation have distributed freely text books and note books to the poor students beloning to the primary classes in the target villages.
09. Consumer Awareness Campaign:
Of late, the business men who are mad to become rich overnight, have been involved in selling of adultereated food stuffs which cause danger to life and also paralysing the human limbs. In order to generate awareness among the general public, SHARP have successfully conducted consumer Awareness Campaigns in the target bvillages and educated the rural men and women to identify adultered food stuffs and lodge suitable action with the concerned authorities against those spurious traders.
10. National Festivals:
In order to generate patriotism and National Integration, SHARP have conducted festivals of National Importance like Independence day, Republic Day, Mahatma Gandhiji's Birthday and Ambedkar Jayanthi and Babu Jagjivan Ram's Jayanthi etc.
11. Awareness On AIDS Prevention:
The Major health hazard of the present generation of mankind is the spreading of AIDS epidemic.There is no cure for the AIDS Disease. Prevention is the only Possible method for AIDS, through the concerted efforts of youth and women. Day by Day the epidemic is spreading like wild-fire.into the masses. SHARP have conducted awarenes campaigns through which youth and college students have been warned of the distraous results of AIDS Infection.
12. Literacy Programme In Baripada Of Orissa State:
The area is having coal mines in Mayurbjhanj District of Orissa. Many of the coal mine workers are illiterate including their female partners as well as their children. In order to make them literates, SHARP have newly launched Literacy programme in the area. A field office is functioning there with a co-ordinator and a women teacher.
13. HIV/AIDS Prevention In Gokak Area Of Belgaum District of Karnataka:
HIV/AIDS Pravention programme have also been taken up in Gokak area, of Belgaum District of Karnataka State. There is a field office there and the co-ordinator collects condoms from the District Medical & Health Office, Belguam and the Primary Health Centre in Gokak and distributes to the women in prostitution as well as the truck drivers for safer sex.
